Vang Vieng Railway Station

Vang Vieng Railway Station

The ordinary train travels slower at 120 km per hour. For this service tickets may be sold for same-day travel and immediate departure so passengers may be pretty sure to get a ticket and a seat if they arrive early and won't need to purchase tickets the day before. Fares are lower than fares for high-speed trains and passengers can carry more baggage than the 20 kilogram limit per passenger on the fast trains.

The high-speed train service offers a fast and comfortable travel option for passengers. The journey typically takes around 1 hour between Vientiane and Vang Vieng.

Ticket Classes and Pricing:

Ticket prices vary depending on the class chosen, with the second class being the most affordable and the business class the most expensive.

Public transport below is waiting to take arriving passengers into  the Vang Vieng town from the railway station.

Many vehicles stop outside the toll collection tent and let their passengers out there to avoid the fees so their railway passengers need to walk the last 100 meters.
